Under US Federal law, any time a recording gets performed in an environment that generates revenue (including non-profit venues), the songwriter or music publisher who controls that composition is entitled to remuneration for performance. A performing rights license must be obtained.
If the Rockbot service is the sole source of music in your facility, and you use Rockbot in adherence with the terms and conditions of the Subscriber Agreement, Rockbot covers all applicable licensing fees for your facility. However, if you use music from other sources such as a live band, someone’s music collection, a phone playing a consumer music service, a DJ party, in an instructed fitness class, or from your TV, you are required to take an additional license from the PROs.
