If your use of Rockbot Music is consistent with the Rockbot Subscriber Terms, Rockbot covers all of your music licensing fees. ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, and GMR employ representatives who monitor and contact businesses to enforce these PROs’ legal rights to obtain license royalties from musical performances in commercial establishments.
Identify yourself to the PRO representative as a Rockbot customer and provide the dates of your Rockbot subscription. If the representative asks for verification, contact Rockbot Support here at support.rockbot.com and we’ll send you a letter to provide to the representative certifying your coverage as a Rockbot customer with your dates of service included. You can also download this certificate letter yourself via your Rockbot customer dashboard. If Rockbot is not the sole music source in your business facility, you’ll need to work with ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, and GMR to obtain direct licenses for the other music uses.
What are the most common scenarios that put a commercial establishment outside of the scope of Rockbot’s license coverage?
- Your facility offers music or other audio via cable TV or other TV sources.
- You offer instructed fitness classes that are coordinated with music or various dance activities (Zumba, ballet, etc).
- You have events where a live band or DJ performs music in your establishment, even if rarely.
- Your business’s employees utilize music from another source, such as a CD player, record player, or a consumer music service like Spotify, Apple Music, or Pandora. Consumer music streaming services do not include any permissions or licenses for commercial business use.
