The Smart Amp supports audio pass-through via a 3.5mm line-in input, allowing external sources like microphones and paging systems to play through your existing setup. Use this feature if you want to connect an external audio source, configure input controls, or set up automatic audio ducking for announcements.
Note: Bluetooth connections are not supported.
Paging and Microphone Support
The 3.5mm input supports most paging systems and microphones. With ducking enabled, announcements automatically take priority without needing manual switching.
Note: The Rockbot Smart Amp is not able to support microphones that use Mic Level signals, only Line Level.
Line-In and Pass-Through Features
- From the Dashboard, go to Settings > Devices > Smart Amp
- Locate the Amp Source section
- Toggle the input to Enabled
- Click Save
Once enabled, audio from the connected 3.5mm source will play through the Smart Amp alongside or instead of Rockbot audio, depending on your ducking settings.
Audio Ducking
When audio ducking is enabled, external audio becomes the primary source whenever a signal is detected. Rockbot audio will lower in the background and return to normal once the external signal stops. This setup is commonly used for paging systems or announcement microphones.
- Go to setup.rockbot.com and enter your Smart Amp's Serial Number (located on the back of the device)
- Select Manage
- Under Amp Source, select Ducking
- Adjust the following settings:
- Ducking Threshold — the input level required to trigger ducking
- Ducking Volume — how much background music is reduced during external audio
- Click Save
Note: If ducking isn't triggering, try lowering the Ducking Threshold. If background music is still too loud during announcements, lower the Ducking Volume.
