Digital Signage Assets are any content that can be displayed on-screen. Assets are building blocks of Rockbot Digital Signage.
Rockbot supports nine asset types, which can be combined into campaigns to build signage that fits your business at dashboard.rockbot.com.
Click on each asset type below to learn more about it, including our technical requirements for uploaded files.
Content – assets created and uploaded through the Rockbot Dashboard
Image assets are the most common type of signage content. These are static visuals that can appear full-screen or in specific content areas of your display. They are great for:
- Promoting limited-time offers or seasonal events
- Highlighting a new product or service
- Reinforcing your brand with logo slides or ambiance screens
Matching the Right Aspect Ratio
To display correctly, images must match the aspect ratio of the content area where they will be displayed. Otherwise, they may look stretched, cropped, or padded with black bars.
| Content Area | Aspect Ratio | Example Dimension | Use Case |
| Landscape | 16:9 | 1920x1080 | Content on horizontal TVs |
| Portrait | 9:16 | 1080x1920 | Vertical displays |
| Sidebar | 4.1:10 | 442x1080 | Side panel for logos, promos, or QR codes |
Choosing the Right Asset Quality
When uploading, choose an Asset Quality level. This determines how crisp the image appears and how the system stores it.
- HD – Standard for most TVs and signage screens
- 4K – High-resolution or premium setups
-
Uncompressed – Best for unusual dimensions
or
pixel-perfect needs
Note: Once an image asset is created, the quality cannot be changed. To adjust later, re-upload the image as a new asset.
Uploading Image Files
Images can be uploaded one at a time or in batches.
Batch uploads are helpful for:
- Seasonal or holiday promotions across multiple locations
- Sequences of branded slides in a campaign
- Bulk uploads for different stores or regions
File requirements:
- File types: .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .gif
- Size per file: Minimum 10KB, Maximum 25MB
- Max per batch: 20 files
- Total batch size: 500MB
How batch uploads work:
- Shared Settings – All images share the same duration, content area, and campaign assignment.
- Individual Edits – Each image can be edited later.
- Playback Order – If you assign the uploaded images to a campaign, they will appear in the order they were uploaded. They can be reordered later in the Campaign Details page under “Set Asset Order.”
Video assets are motion-based files that play full-screen and bring energy to your signage. They are great for:
- Running branded ad loops or promotional reels.
- Showing products in action.
- Adding ambiance or excitement to a space.
Content Area & Layout Compatibility
Videos can be oriented in:
- Landscape (16:9)
- Portrait (9:16)
Note: Layout compatibility is enforced. Portrait videos only display on portrait screens, and landscape videos only display on landscape screens.
