Subscriptions and Asset Types
Digital Signage Assets are anything that you want to play on-screen.
Digital Signage Asset types include image, text, social, web, and video. A Zone with a Digital Signage subscription can use these Asset types. Rockbot Request customers may add text and social Assets without a Digital Signage subscription.
These Assets are all uploaded and managed from your venue at dashboard.rockbot.com.
Image Assets are the most common Display Assets. Image Assets add visually appealing static advertisements or messages on your screen(s). Image Assets can include png, jpeg, jpg, and gif.
Limitations: Image Assets must be assigned an Orientation of Landscape or Portrait at creation. This orientation cannot be changed.
Orientations: Image Assets must be either Landscape (horizontal) or Portrait (vertical) oriented. Once orientation is set on an Asset, it cannot change. Assets will only display on screens that match the Assets' orientation.
Dimensions: Landscape images should have a 16:9 aspect ratio (standard 1920x1080 pixels). Portrait Assets should have a 9:16 aspect ratio (standard 1080x1920 pixels). Sidebar Assets (for L-Bar display formats) should have a 4.1:10 aspect ratio (non-standard 442x1080 pixels).
Duration: By default, image Assets stay on screen for 10 seconds. To adjust, open the Asset Editor from the Asset Library. The display duration can be set for as little as 1 second or up to an hour. For static displays, we recommend that the image change at least once per hour to avoid screen damage.
Canva Integration
Canva offers a fast and easy way to create image Assets using a web-based builder. Launch Canva from Rockbot, design beautiful Assets, and upload them directly back to Rockbot. Once imported, Canva Assets act exactly like any other Image Asset.
Limitations: The Rockbot integration with Canva is free and provided as a courtesy. Using Canva may require a paid account to use “premium” Assets. Rockbot receives no remuneration for transactions with Canva. For payment or other inquiries about Canva, contact Canva support.
Video Assets are display assets that run on any screen in your Rockbot deployment. Image Assets add dynamic content or advertisements on a screen(s).
Limitations: Video Assets can be up to 100 MB in size. To play a long video, enable Ordered Playback on your Campaign, break it into sections, upload each section as a video Asset, and place them in the correct order in your Campaign. Each video will play sequentially as if it were a single Asset. Audio + Video format, where audio syncs with video playback, is not supported. We plan to add support in a future release. Video Assets can be mp4 and mov.
Orientation: Video Assets must be either Landscape (horizontal) or Portrait (vertical) oriented. Assets will only be displayed on screens that match the Assets' orientation.
Duration: Determined by the length of the Video recording and is not configurable.
Text Assets are the easiest and fastest way to play a simple message on the display.
Limitations: Text Assets must be either Landscape (horizontal) or Portrait (vertical) oriented. Assets will only be displayed on screens that match the Assets' orientation. In a future release, we plan to remove the orientation restriction.
Orientation: Text Assets may be Sidebar, Landscape (Horizontal), or Portrait (Vertical) orientation.
Duration: Text Assets default to 10 seconds, but can be set to 1 second or up to an hour. Duration can be set at creation or by using the Asset Editor. We recommend that Text Assets change at least once per hour to avoid screen damage.
Web Assets are a fast and easy way to embed a static web page into a display. A common use case is a menu or a schedule of events hosted online that does not require user interaction. Web pages with animations and audio players are not supported.
Limitations: Previews of an embedded web page may not be available in the Asset builder. Some URLs containing redirects or security issues may be impossible to display.
Orientation: Web Assets must be either Landscape (horizontal) or Portrait (vertical) oriented. Once orientation is set on a web Asset, it cannot change. Web Assets will only display on screens that match the Assets' orientation.
Duration: Web Assets default to 10 seconds, but can be set to one (1) second to one (1) hour. Duration can be set at creation or by using the Asset Editor. We recommend that Web Assets change at least once per hour to avoid screen damage.
If the web URL you are trying to embed will not display, a redirect is the most common cause. You can use http://www.redirect-checker.org/ (not affiliated with Rockbot) or other similar free services to detect any redirects on your target server and show the URL to which they redirect. In most cases, embedding that clean url instead will solve the issue.
Instagram Assets display the most recent 20 posts from the chosen Instagram account. Posts older than 30 days will not display.
Limitations: Embedded videos on Instagram posts are not supported on the Rockbot display. Launch the Campaign Preview dialog to see a preview of posts from the chosen account.
Orientation: Social Assets must be either Landscape (horizontal) or Sidebar (portrait). Fullscreen Portrait orientation will be added in a future release.
Duration: Social Assets default to 10 seconds, but can be set to one (1) second to one (1) hour. Duration can be set at creation or by using the Asset Editor. We recommend that Social Assets change at least once per hour to avoid screen damage.
